This year, the most beautiful Christmas program in the country opened at Praça João Martins, in Paripe. In this part of the city alone, 700,000 LED lamps were installed for Christmas lighting, which will be accompanied by a wide artistic program. In Campo Grande, the Christmas Village is beautiful. Lots of colors and lights to admire, plus the toy factory with Santa Claus! No need to schedule. See more information at this link.

Christmas Salvador 2022 edition features the theme “Lighting up our dreams” (Iluminando Nossos Sonhos) and will bring the Christmas atmosphere to various public leisure spaces in the city, such as the squares of Campo Grande, Artur Lago (Pernambués), ACM (São Caetano) and Canal (Vale das Pedrinhas). A Sustainable Christmas is also planned at Ana Lúcia Magalhães Square (Pituba), which will be taken by Christmas symbols made in a 100% sustainable way by the recycling sector of the Urban Cleaning Company (Limpurb).

Natal Salvador in Subúrbio

For the second consecutive year, Subúrbio was the first location to host Christmas Salvador 2022, this time at Praça João Martins, in Paripe. The more than 2,200 m² area of the site houses the Santa Claus House, a 15m tree with a ceiling of light, instagrammable pieces, a nativity scene and a large illuminated castle, as well as a corridor of stars, among other attractions. The decoration can be visited every day of the week, at any time, and will be available until January 6th.

Enchantment – At João Martins, activities opened with performances by the orchestra led by maestro Fred Dantas and by Manu Dourado, a member of the Institute for the Blind (Instituto de Cegos da Bahia – ICB).

Decoration brings Christmas atmosphere to Campo Grande Square

This year, the celebration of Christmas Salvador arrives at 2 de Julho Square, in Campo Grande, with novelties, such as pieces that refer to children’s sweets. The Christmas Village is an environment where people from Salvador and tourists can walk through villages, a Christmas camp, a nativity scene, a toy factory, instagrammable niches and tree climbing with lights. Visitation for the public opened on December 1st, with several attractions that can be enjoyed for free until January 6th. More information at www.natal.salvador.ba.gov.br.

At the opening, there was a show by tenor Thiago Arancam, who presented songs from the Christmas Season project (projeto Estação de Natal), in partnership with maestro João Carlos Martins. Among the successes were “Holy Mary” (Ave Maria), “Silent Night” (Noite Feliz) and “Santa Claus is coming to town” (Vem Chegando o Natal), with the participation of singer Manu Dourado, from the Institute for the Blind (Instituto de Cegos da Bahia).

Get to know each attraction

The “City’s Façade” is one of the structures set up for Christmas at Campo Grande Square. Measuring 10 meters wide and 7 meters high, the piece was made of plywood, painted in colors that represent the flavors of biscuits. These plywood pieces have cutouts lined with white fabric that leak light, as well as windows and decorations imitating sugar candies.

The “Sweet Village” is a group of small houses scattered along an 80-meter corridor. The homes have doors, windows and decorations, whose colors refer to milk, vanilla, cinnamon and chocolate.

The “Tree of Sweet Dreams”, in turn, is 19 meters high and is completely wrapped with a green garland and Christmas lights. The decorations are 1.5 meter tall cookie dolls, as well as hearts, socks, stars, bows, trees and houses. At the top, there is a star of light.

The population can also enjoy the “Christmas Camp”, an area reserved for handicrafts and food (including lots of sweets) with 10 trailers of social institutions, artisans and micro-entrepreneurs, who will donate part of the sales to social projects.

In addition, there is a nativity scene in honor of children, in which each doll has a child’s face representing the characters on the altar. This piece is installed on a round elevated 5 meters in diameter and, in the background, there is a hut made of dry straw. The surroundings of the crib have a pine plantation with Christmas lighting.

For those who want to take a lot of pictures

For those who don’t give up taking pictures to register on social networks, Christmas Salvador in Campo Grande has instagrammable niches composed of two Kombis, one with a theme of sweets and Christmas bread, and the other with Christmas decoration that includes trees, balls, ladder, gifts and lots of light. To get to the niches, the visitor passes through a corridor of light cords that is 40 meters long.

Another space that can be visited is the “Toy Factory”, whose structure has a large facade with four towers and chimneys formed by barrels. The inner part has three rooms and the outer part has two.

At the entrance, there is a porch with two bicycles belonging to employees who use ecological transport. Upon entering, there is a reception with cabinets with many letters for Santa. In the manufacturing part, there are machines with many colorful gears and all kinds of toys, which fill the festive and cheerful atmosphere.

At another point, there is Santa’s throne room with a complete office where he manages the production and delivery of gifts. At the exit, there is a beautiful garden with trees and pines. Finally, the Christmas decoration brings a plantation of 16 LED trees with light variation around the lake to reflect the colors in the water.

Accessibility

Just like last year, City Hall included accessibility so that everyone can enjoy the special decoration. The square has totems in Braille, Libras interpreter and audio description for the visually impaired. In addition, people with Down Syndrome will act in the place as Santa’s helpers, guiding visitors.

The scheduling to visit the space, as it has happened in recent years, will no longer be necessary in 2022, which means people will be able to visit the Christmas decorations in Campo Grande at any day and time they wish, as well as in João Martins Square, in Paripe.

“The square will remain open so that everyone can check out the outdoor programming. Our recommendation is that everyone wear a mask and, above all, complete the vaccination schedule, in this effort to face the increase in cases ”, highlighted Mayor Bruno Reis, referring to cases of covid19.

O post Salvador Christmas 2022 apareceu primeiro em Salvador - Bahia - mix it up.

Come to Salvador. Until the 1930s, Itapuã was just a fishing village. Today, it is one of the capital’s most artistic-cultural neighborhoods, with dozens of intangible goods and intangible heritage. It is an excerpt from a song by Walmir Lima who, in the voice of Alcione, projected the name of Ilha de Maré to the national scene in 1977. But did you know that, in fact, Ilha de Maré belongs to Salvador? And it ‘s not only this one. The capital of Bahia has two other insular parts: Ilha dos Frades and Bom Jesus dos Passos.

In other words, fulfilling the dream of many couples in love of going to a paradise island is possible in the capital of Bahia. Located in the suburbs of Salvador, they are known for their fine sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful landscapes. The islands of Salvador are just these three. Itaparica Island (Itaparica) is in another municipality, as is Morro de São Paulo (Cairu).

To visit the places, you can take boat or speedboat trips organized by several tourist agencies in Salvador. Another option is to rent a boat and take a private tour. There is still a more economical way which is to access the islands through the passenger terminals.

If you are in Salvador, you can visit each island in one day, but it is also possible to stay on the islands for a more complete experience.

Check the information below and plan your trip

Ilha de Maré (Maré Island)

This island has 11.01 km² and, according to the IBGE, has 4,236 residents. The place is simple and originated as a village of fishermen and quilombolas. It is famous for its moquecas, especially the peguari one. One of the most important symbols of the island is the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Neves, built in colonial style in 1552 (one of the oldest in Brazil) and home to the island’s patron saint. Other highlights are the beaches of Itamoabo, das Neves, Praia Grande, Santana and Botelho.

How to get there? The crossing to Ilha de Maré can be done through the São Tomé de Paripe Waterway Terminal, in the suburb of Salvador. It lasts about 20 minutes and you will get off at Praia das Neves. Transport costs R$8 per person. The crossing is made daily until 5pm and depends on weather conditions. From there, it is possible to take boats to the other beaches with independent boatmen to take tours around the islands.

Ilha dos Frades (Frades Island)

With only 733 residents, Ilha dos Frades is the largest in Salvador in terms of extension. There are 13.63 km². Beaches, lagoons, waterfalls, mountains and typical Atlantic Forest vegetation, including pau-brasil, make up the scenery of the island, which has 15 points. In each of them, there is a beach. The best known are Loreto, Paramana and Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe. Two important buildings on the island are the churches of Nossa Senhora do Loreto and Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe.

How to get there?

You can leave the Nautical Tourist Terminal, in the Comércio district. The crossing takes about 1 hour and is made only with schooners, which go towards Ponta de Nossa Senhora.

Prices range from R$35 on. From any of the beaches on the island, it is possible to take independent boats to travel to the other beaches. The boatmen stay at the arrival terminal where it is possible to negotiate the price.

Another way is to leave the Madre de Deus Maritime Terminal (it is necessary to leave Salvador on the BR-324, going through a toll that charges R$ 2.90) to Paramana beach where boats leave for Ilha dos Frades. The fare costs R$ 6.40. The crossing takes about 20 minutes. Boats depart every hour from 7 am to 5 pm.

Ilha de Bom Jesus dos Passos (Bom Jesus dos Passos Island)

The smallest among the three islands of Salvador, Bom Jesus dos Passos has an area of 0.45 km² and 1,465 residents. The place lives on subsistence agriculture and fishing. The most popular beaches are Pontinha and Ponta do Padre, but, unlike Ilha de Maré and Ilha dos Frades, there are no wide strips of sand. The local cuisine is one of the highlights, especially for the seafood caught there.

How to get there: access is via boats departing from the Madre de Deus Maritime Terminal. The crossing takes about 15 minutes and costs R$ 6.40. The boats leave Madre de Deus every 30 minutes, from 7 am to 8 pm. It is possible to make the official crossing of the Terminal or charter a boat for a day trip.

O post Discover the islands of Salvador: Maré, Frades and Bom Jesus dos Passos apareceu primeiro em Salvador - Bahia - mix it up.

Salvador hosts unprecedented aviation event in Brazil

iwwa

History and Culture

Travels

bahia

boasdofimdesemana

boasdofind

boasdofindsalvador

capitaldoverao

carnaval

cidadedaalegria

CidadeDaMusica

CulturalTrip

curtasalvador

eventosSalvador

experienciasalvador

experienciassa

experimentesalvador

experimentessa

MezclaTe

Misitup

MistureSe

oquefazeremsalvador

programaçãosalvadorhoje

salvador

SalvadordaBahia

ssa

VcSenteQueEDiferente

Visit

VisitSalvadorDaBahia

Wanderlust

Salvador City Hall and Airport unite in search of international flights The event seeks to further strengthen the Bahian capital as a tourist route One of the most desired cities for tourist trips in Brazil, Salvador is constantly improving. There are many attractions for the traveler to have a cultural immersion in the city, such as traditional festivals, ancestral cuisine, secular churches, beaches, incredible itineraries and art. Allied to this, infrastructure works, revitalizations and promotions of cultural points have contributed to move the city’s economy. This effort makes the Bahian capital one of the most sold destinations nationally, also enhancing international interest.
For these reasons, the city of Salvador will host an unprecedented event in South America, the CAPA Latin America Summit, a regional aviation conference that brings together air transport companies from different parts of Latin America and other continents. The event, scheduled to take place on August 25th and 26th, is the result of a joint effort by the City Hall and Salvador Airport, master sponsors of the action.

One of the objectives of this high-strategy event is to highlight the destination of Salvador through its tourist attractions, as well as its air connectivity, in order to attract more international flights to the city. For two days, CEOs and air network planners from large companies will be in the capital of Bahia. The presence of the CEOs of the Brazilian companies GOL and Azul, the Colombian company Ultra Air, the Argentine company Flybondi, the Portuguese company TAP and the Ecuadorian company Equair, as well as a top executive from the German company Lufthansa, has already been confirmed. Learn more about the event at this link.

The international conference is produced by CAPA – Center for Aviation – one of the largest global providers of data and market intelligence for the aviation and tourism industries. Every year, airline representatives meet to discuss market challenges and trends, benchmark, network and, of course, close deals.

Open to the international market

The first city founded in Brazil, seat of the General Government, was for many years the largest city in the Americas. On March 29, 1549, São Salvador was born, already a city, already a capital, without ever having been a province. Solar, musical and multicultural city, today recognized as Black Rome, Mecca of Blackness, City of Music and Joy.

In recent years, tourists and residents have been rediscovering the city. Starting with the Historic Center of Salvador, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. In the lower part, it is worth visiting the beautiful Basilica of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Praia, the Music Museum (Cidade da Música da Bahia) and the Mercado Modelo. From there, you go up the Lacerda Elevator, the first urban elevator in the world, to the upper part of the city, where you have a beautiful view of the All Saints Bay and, in the background, the São Marcelo Fort. Head to Pelourinho and be sure to visit: the House of Carnival (Casa do Carnaval da Bahia), the Church and Convent of São Francisco, the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of Black People, the Casa de Jorge Amado Foundation and Casa do Benin.

A waterfront full of beautiful beaches

Even with the arrival of the cold season throughout Brazil, the Bahian capital continues to have its beaches as a strong attraction for tourists, with pleasant temperatures, despite the rains. The sun always appears in Salvador, the waters are warm and the coast has beaches for all tastes: with waves for sportsmen; with the calm sea of All Saints Bay for those who want tranquility; and with points of rock formations full of natural pools, excellent for those traveling with children.

A good suggestion to get to know the city in a different way is the panoramic tour along the city’s edge aboard the Double-Deck Salvador Bus, so you can choose your next favorite beach. For those looking for “comfort on the sand”, your destination is the Blue Praia Bar. The space has an exuberant view of Buracão Beach, in Rio Vermelho, one of the liveliest and most energetic neighborhoods in Salvador. The atmosphere is beautiful, with its lattice gazebos, balcony tables, beachfront lounges, Balinese beds and beach kit.

Cultural life all around

Other interesting destinations are in the neighborhoods of Vitória and Barra, some of the most traditional neighborhoods in the city. A chic residential, Corredor da Vitória is centered on Avenida Sete de Setembro, flanked by giant mango trees and luxury condominiums overlooking the All Saints Bay. Mansions that have become important museums are some of the attractions, as well as art galleries such as Paulo Darzé, which focuses on contemporary Brazilian art.

In Barra, cultural spaces are mixed with exuberant nature. If you are used to going to Porto da Barra just to enjoy that wonderful beach, there is still a lot to do on that beautiful edge. There is the Pierre Verger Space for Bahian Photography, at Santa Maria Fort and the Carybé Space of Arts, in São Diogo Fort. Nearby is the Barra Lighthouse, which is part of the Santo Antônio da Barra Fort. Much more than an obligatory stop for photos, this fortification houses the Nautical Museum of Bahia, which has a historical collection made up of objects from different periods, some of them submerged for up to 300 years, and which help to understand the relationship between the man and the sea and between Bahia and the Lighthouse.

Salvador da Bahia has so many amazing places, it’s hard to choose one.

O post Salvador hosts unprecedented aviation event in Brazil apareceu primeiro em Salvador - Bahia - mix it up.
