
This is one of the cultural spaces maintained by the City Hall of Salvador, through the Gregorio de Mattos Foundation. It has a Room of Presentations, called Tabaris, with a multipurpose format, without stage, with moving audience. There’s also the City Gallery, a space with more than 400 m², directed to visual arts exhibitions. There are cultural events, exhibitions, theater, dance, musicals, visual arts, literature.
Built in 1986, designed by the architect Lina Bo Bardi, Gregorio de Mattos Theater is in an area that once housed the historic Cassino Tabaris. It presents an innovative environmental proposal, which allows its use by shows and events of different styles and languages. There is no fixed stage. The scenic space is purposely wide and hollow, enabling various compositions and uses.
